Who was promoted faster, MacArthur or Eisenhower?

MacArthur-Eisenhower

At the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Douglas MacArthur graduated first in a class of 164, while Dwight D. Eisenhower graduated 61st. When MacArthur was the Army Chief of Staff, Eisenhower served as his aide. When MacArthur became the youngest four-star general in U.S. history, Eisenhower was still an unknown lieutenant colonel.

However, just two years later, in 1941, Eisenhower was promoted to colonel and soon after to brigadier general. In 1942, he advanced to major general and then lieutenant general. By 1943, he became a full general. Meanwhile, MacArthur remained a general during this period. In 1944, both Eisenhower and MacArthur were promoted to the five-star rank of General of the Army.

Dwight-Eisenhower

In 1952, Eisenhower was elected as the 34th President of the United States. In contrast, MacArthur was relieved of his post as Supreme Commander of the UN forces in 1951 due to disagreements with President Truman, and he retired from the military in 1952.
